- Water your garden only, not your street, driveway or footpath. Try growing a native garden - they use less water.
- Wash your car on the lawn - NOT on paved areas.
- Pick up animal droppings and dispose of them in a bin or compost.
- Use garden fertilisers or pesticides sparingly. Don’t spray pesticides near waterways or stormwater drains. Don't spray pesticides when it is windy.
- Ensure building, renovation and garden contractors dispose of all waste appropriately.
- Dispose of all wastes appropriately - recycle or re-use as much waste as you can. Ask your local council for advice.
- Fix oil and other leaks in your car so they don't run onto the road.
- Compost lawn clippings and leaf litter – don’t let them end up in your stormwater drain.
- Backwash swimming pools into the sewer, NOT the stormwater drain.
