Much of Northern and Yorke's beautiful coastline is open to human as well as marine traffic, which creates a special set of concerns for its natural resources on both sides of the waterline.
When tackling these concerns, the trick is to cooperate in groups to determine the best way to manage the entire coastal zone so the issues are not simply transferred to another nearby beach or estuary.
Stock access, feral animals and weeds also are a threat to our coastal systems, which can range from mangroves to sand dunes to seagrass meadows.
It's not as easy as just putting up a fence, because access is important to make people aware of what the coast has to offer.
What our coast has to offer is so precious that it must be protected at all costs.
Of all the aspects of natural resources management, caring for the coast is probably the one on which most people agree.
But it is also so the one where so much damage can be done by even a little thoughtlessness.
By working with others, you can spread that message and help conserve our coast.
