In 2005, the State Government's Natural Resources Management Act replaced three other Acts, which has allowed natural resources management to move forward.
The change has given the Board the opportunity to create a new, up to the minute Regional Natural Resource Management Plan. More than ever before, this plan will chart the future of natural resources in Northern and Yorke.
The Regional NRM Plan currently being developed will come into operation on 2009/10.
It will include:
- Strategic Plan– a 50 year horizon based a detailed assessment of the region’s natural resources and associated strategies to manage, protect and improve the resources. This plan will be reviewed very 5 years.
- Business Plan – a 3 year operational plan with detailed financials for the first year. This plan will be reviewed and rolled over annually.
The community will be invited to consult on the draft Regional NRM Plan in late 2008.
